TELEMIS Introduces TM-School: An Innovative
Solution for Medical Imaging Education
Supporting Education in Medical Imaging
Many schools for Medical Imaging Technologists (MIT) or Radiation Technologists (RT) have invested in radiology rooms to enhance the practical training of their students. However, a new challenge quickly emerged regarding the archiving and viewing of images generated for educational purposes. Aware of this need, thanks to its collaboration with the Haute École Léonard de Vinci in Brussels, Telemis embarked on a mission to develop a software solution tailored to the requirements of both students and instructors.
Dr Geoffrey Stenuit and Dr Régine Pirlot, coordinators of the Bachelor’s programme for Medical Imaging Technologists at HE Vinci, commented:
“TM-School (Telemis for School), implemented by Telemis at HE Vinci in Brussels, is the ideal solution for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Medical Imaging Technology. They can now easily retrieve and manipulate images acquired in our new radiology room dedicated to teaching, as well as images obtained during ultrasound practical sessions. Closely resembling the PACS systems used in hospitals, this version prepares our students optimally for the PACS software they will encounter during internships or in their professional careers. Moreover, the integrated image processing tools in this version enable our students, from their very first year, to quickly and easily grasp the fundamental concepts of image processing.”
Strengthening Medical Imaging Education Through Collaboration
The concept for this solution was born during the recent Journées Françaises de Radiologie in October 2023, during discussions between representatives from the school and Telemis’s Testing Department Head, a former graduate of the institution. These discussions quickly led to the development of a tailored solution to meet the school’s needs.
This software suite addresses the requirements of educational institutions, emphasising user-friendly interfaces, ease of deployment, and seamless support. TM-School enables students to engage in practical exercises on radiological workflows and medical imaging, significantly enriching their learning experience.
Future Collaborations
TM-School has now been successfully implemented at the Haute École Léonard de Vinci. Following this initial deployment, Telemis hopes to collaborate with many more institutions seeking to provide a comprehensive and modern software environment for their students.
